adobe
Mud brick dried by the sun, used to build small homes

ballet
A performance on stage that uses music and dance to tell a story.

barbecue
An outdoor fireplace for cooking meat

barracuda
A fish with a long, narrow body and many sharp teeth.


beret
A round, soft, flat hat.


bouquet
An arrangement of flowers that is usually given as a present.


campaign
An organized set of activities performed by a candidate to try to win an election

cargo
Goods carried by a large vehicle, ship or plane.

cassette
Case with tape inside used to record music


croissant
Very rich flaky crescent-shaped roll.


depot
A railroad station or bus terminal


embargo
An order forbidding the trade in or movement of commercial goods with certain countries

envelope
A flat rectangular paper that closes. It is used to send letters by mail.


mosquito
An insect that sucks blood when this insect bites, it causes swelling and irritation.


patio
An outdoor space used for relaxing, near or attached to a home.

plateau
An elevated piece of land with a flat top

rodeo
A contest of horse riding and other cowboy skills.

sergeant
A rank in the military or police force

Mexican hat made of

tornado
A violent wind that moves very fast in a circular motion. This can cause great damage to trees, buildings, and anything in its way.
